SATRA ensures that suppliers, manufacturers and brands achieve better integration and credibility, both in the supply chain and the marketplace.

SATRA Cutting Award

The SATRA cutting award has been introduced as a way of improving and maintaining quality in the cutting room during the manufacture of footwear and can cover the complete cutting process.

SATRA's experienced auditors examine various stages of the cutting procedure. This includes:

  • Incoming inspection
  • Storage
  • Physical conditions in the cutting area
  • Space
  • Layout
  • Lighting
  • Access and equipment maintenance

The quality of the cut pieces of leather, and the training the cutters have received, is also checked as part of the cutting award process. SATRA staff also monitor the overall facilities of the company and its ability to consistently supply quality products.

Footwear manufacturers who achieve a required standard of competence in cutting can apply for SATRA registration.
