Accreditation

At SATRA we are proud of the enviable reputation of our testing and calibration services, but are far from complacent. We are determined to ensure that our services are comprehensive, relevant to customers’ needs and of a high quality. Accreditation to a suitable Quality Management System plays a key role in our strategy to ensure that testing and calibration work achieves the required quality level.

SATRA testing and calibration laboratories are accredited to ISO/IEC 17025: 2005 - General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.

ISO/IEC 17025 contains the requirements for managing quality within a laboratory. Accreditation is the formal recognition by an authoritative body that a person or organization is competent to carry out specific tasks.

Accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 plays a key role in our strategy to ensure that our testing and calibration work achieves the required level of quality. ISO/IEC 17025 defines what is required of a laboratory for it to demonstrate that:

  • Its personnel are technically competent;
  • It has the technical resources to produce reliable data and results for a defined set of tests, measurements or calibrations;
  • Its management system meets the principles of ISO 9001, which satisfy the pertinent requirements of ISO 17025 when acting as suppliers of test or calibration results.

SATRA Quality Assurance Ltd, a subsidiary of SATRA, is accredited to ISO/IEC 17021: 2006 - Conformity assessment - requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of management systems, for Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001) and, Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001).

The authoritative body that we contract to assess SATRA against ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 17021 is UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service). UKAS represents the United Kingdom on three European and international bodies - the European Co-operation for Accreditation (EA), the International Laboratory Accreditation Co-operation (ILAC) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF).
