SATRAData: Typical Workflow

The SATRAData workflow is a very simple process to provide fast, accurate and achievable time standards for all shoemaking and other manufacturing operations.

1: Method Analysis

The process starts with the analysis of operations on the factory floor. In order for SATRAData to deliver accurate times, it is important to start with a correct analysis of the operations required for the work.

We train your users how to do this with our Method Analysis Training.

2: Creating Values

Create SATRAData values for any new methods that you have analysed. Answer different handling questions, depending upon the type of value you are trying to create. The system uses the answers to these questions to automatically select elements. Elements are low level building blocks, such as the time for putting on elastic bands or walking so many paces. It combines these elements to create a time for the specific job.

These values can be further enhanced. We will train you how to do so in our Method Analysis Training and build on this later during our Supplementary Training.

3: Creating Paths

Use a digitiser to enter the details of any paths needed for operations such as stitching, skiving, cementing and folding. Create values for these types of operations by answering the relevant questions and importing the paths. A stitching value, for example, will require digitising of the stitch path, marking features such as back tacks, stops and seams. SATRAData will analyse the path and features and allocate the correct elements automatically to give a time.

4: Creating Elements

SATRAData comes with over 300 preloaded elements. You can create your own or modify existing ones. Create new elements to add to your new values for any operations that are specific to your factory or to a particular job.

Elements are created from sub-elements, the most basic building blocks of the system. Sub-elements include low-level PMTS operations such as making movements of 10cm or 15cm. Again, you can create new sub-elements or modify existing ones.

5: Creating Styles

Building up sub-styles and styles from the values enables SATRAData to estimate the total time required to manufacture the shoe. The sub-style collects together all the operation values for a particular department, and the style describes the whole construction process from cutting the raw materials to boxing up the final product.

6: Costing and Reporting

Assign rates for the job to any number of different grades of work. SATRAData will calculate how much the job will cost before going to production. These costs can also be used if you have a payment incentive scheme.

Produce reports of all your building blocks from sub-elements right through to styles. Reports will give a detailed analysis of how your products are to be constructed, together with how much they will cost to make.
