The STM 609 machine is designed to test two vital aspects of safety footwear – toe cap impact protection and metatarsal impact protection. It adheres to many international standards, including European, Canadian and US requirements. This machine can analyse toe caps before shoemaking or from sections cut from complete footwear, while metatarsal protection is assessed on complete footwear only.

Key impact tests

The machine conducts impact tests as required by legislative standards specifying impact energy, anvil geometry, impact location, anchoring requirements and acceptance criteria. Current capabilities include EN ISO 22568, EN ISO 20344, ASTM F2412, CSA Z195, NZS 5809, NZS 5824 and AS 2210.
